Isaiah 12:2-6

 2Surely God is my salvation;
I will trust, and will not be afraid,
for the Lord GOD is my strength and my might;
 he has become my salvation.
3With joy you will draw water from the wells of salvation. 4And you will say in that day:
Give thanks to the LORD,
call on his name;
make known his deeds among the nations;
proclaim that his name is exalted.
5Sing praises to the LORD, for he has done gloriously;
let this be known in all the earth.
6Shout aloud and sing for joy, O royal Zion,
for great in your midst is the Holy One of Israel.

 I will trust, and will not be afraid, for the Lord GOD is my strength and my might;

 Gymnastics is 10% skill and 90% courage.  Once your muscles have been strengthened and trained, the only thing that remains is to conquer your fear.  This can be challenging because gymnastics routines require you to launch yourself into the air from a springboard, throw yourself into the air backwards, fly off of a bar in hopes of catching another one, and spin around on a 4” wide, 4’ high wooden beam.  Thinking about all the ways those things could go wrong can quickly leave you paralyzed with fear.

The way that a gymnast conquers those fears is by practicing every skill with a trusted spotter standing by.  My coach proved, over and over again, that he would never let me fall.  Within that trusting relationship, I was able to fly without fear.

God is absolutely trustworthy and true.  Like a good spotter, God reminds us daily that we’re not alone.  Our strength and might doesn’t come from ourselves.  It comes from the One who walks with us and guides our steps.

Prayer: Lord God, you are my comfort, my strength, and my salvation.  Of what could I possibly be afraid.  AMEN
