Luke 6:37-38
37 “Do not judge, and you will not be judged; do not condemn, and you will not be condemned. Forgive, and you will be forgiven; 38 give, and it will be given to you. A good measure, pressed down, shaken together, running over, will be put into your lap; for the measure you give will be the measure you get back.”

In our text study this week, one of my colleagues said that God’s blessings are like brown sugar. When you measure brown sugar, instead of just pouring it into a measuring cup loose, you pack it in as tightly as you can.
Jesus tells us that when we give, God honors the gift with blessings packed in as tight as brown sugar in a measuring cup. This is not what some like to call, the “prosperity Gospel”. In many ways it’s just the opposite. When we give without counting the cost, God blesses us with the pure joy of caring for our neighbors as Jesus cares for us. God always gives us the true desire of our heart, but it’s seldom what we expect.
Prayer: Generous God, you pour out lavish and abundant blessings on us all the time. Please accept our meager offerings in return. AMEN
