Service
Serving our Neighbors
Jesus came, “not to be served, but to serve” (Mark 10:45), and following his example, the people at St. Luke’s Downtown seek to remember and assist the poor, outcast, and marginalized (Galatians 2:10), serving in Jesus’ name. We also recognize and hope to address the needs of those who live, work, and visit the downtown. We strive to be a place of hope, peace, and renewal.
God has entrusted us with time and resources, blessing us so that we might be a blessing to others. We reach out in Christ’s name, seeking to make a difference in the lives of our neighbors particularly in the downtown area. In this way, we live out our belief that God loves and cares for all people
St. Luke’s Downtown partners with many community organizations where we connect directly with those who are in need of food, shelter, or simply a listening ear. Through our outreach to those who live, work, and visit downtown Lima, we also offer space for groups to meet, classes to be offered, respite and renewal opportunities, and guidance for those who need a safe and quiet space to meditate, pray, or be still. Many of these same organizations are supported financially through special offerings.
